Why is it that a day off has to be an act of aggression? I spent the afternoon at Magrit's house. The kids were happily playing in the stream or on the trampoline and we were having a few too many glasses of wine and it was good. Two women, four kids, two dogs, two rabbits, two chickens and finally a bit of sunshine. I finally got A. into the car and drove home. W got home and did our barn chores and came in to make some mac & cheese. The phone rang and it was Magrit. She was upset because her husband hadn't come home as expected and she didn't take her boys to football practice. She was beating herself into the ground before her husband could come home and do it. She had blown it, so to speak. She was not the perfect parent. Her kids were happy to stay home. It was the rath of the authority figure that was looming over her.
I assured her we were intitled to our little interlude of lounge and that it was OK that the boys missed practice this one time. She knows this stuff but her husband has been into the browbeating thing for a while now.
I get so angry about having to TAKE time off> Doing anything for myself becomes an aggressive act. I have to become angry just to be able to take a peaceful shit. I never would have imagined getting to this place. I always have know what I need and have made it a point to do what I can to remain sane. But lately, it ain't easy.
