We went to Pucci's 4th of July party last night. A very mixed crowd ranging from older folks down to children and every variation in between. There were other families from A's school and folks that Pucci and her husband work with or just know. Pucci's mother-in-law, who lives in PA supplied the fireworks for the warm up and wind down sessions that happened before and after the big fireworks that were happening at the posh hotel sitting on the mountain above the house. It was quite spectacular all together. After the fireworks were over and the breeze died down Sandra spun fire. Very cool indeed and a great finale for the night.
Today has been a series of tactics to stay awake and discomfort free. I don't stay up late like that often anymore and it does a job on me. Lack of sleep combined with a bit of wine and other things, my head felt a bit light this morning.
A loved the fireworks but was a basket case on the ride home. She finally fell asleep and we put her to bed in her clothes. The child sized social dynamic was odd when we arrived at the party. A's two best friends were snubbing her and being clicky. I told A. her birthday party is coming up and she will have an opportunity to be the hostess and choose who she spends the most time with. This is not the first advice I would normally give but I know the one child very well and she is manipulative and should get a bit of her own behaviour back in her face. By later in the night things were ironed out but it still irks me to see how cruel kids can be to each other.
