Bruce Springsteen reminded us in his introduction to this song that while growing up in the sixties we watched war happen on TV every night. As a result people became outraged and tried to change what was happening.
Today a war goes on and the only film we see of it is what is government sanctioned and, whenever possible, proactive to our government's goals. Take for example the regularity of photos and film of the beheadings of U.S and other western hostages. News coverage that is meant to make us feel angry at the enemy.
Media is now operated by big brother.
Think about the lyrics to this classic rock and roll song in view of the current War. Is this action any less wrong than Vietnam was? Is it any more likely to be "won"?
Do we want to not elect GW Bush again in 2004?
